A Q&A on Chemical Exfoliation »
What are the results from a chemical exfoliation treatment? After a treatment, you can expect to see a fresh, smooth, even and healthy tone to your skin. Advanced chemical exfoliation treatments will soften fine lines, clear imperfections and lighten Hyperpigmentation.
The results of the peel treatment are also determined by the home care products and adhering to specific guidelines. Your skincare specialist will provide you with all the necessary information and recommended products for your skin type and condition.
How many treatments do I need and how often? Receiving a series of chemical exfoliation treatments will yield the best results. Your skincare specialist will guide you through a program that consists of treatments and home care products suitable for you specific concerns. On average we recommend a minimum of 4-6 treatments every 7-14 days. More aggressive treatments may require only one treatment or may be repeated at a different frequency than lighter treatments.
What will my skin look like after a treatment? Your skincare specialist will inform you of what to expect following your treatment depending on what was used. You will also be provided with a post chemical exfoliation product regimen and details on what you will experience with your skin. Normally, you may experience slight tightness or even sloughing for a period of time, similar to a sunburn.
Will the treatment be painful? You may feel a slight tingling sensation to a feeling of hot skin during the treatment. Having a fan blow on your face during the treatment will alleviate some tingling sensation. You may feel discomfort while the chemical exfoliant is on your skin, but the tingling sensations will calm shortly after. Following the treatment your skin may feel sensitive.
Are there any special cautions following a treatment? Most importantly, stay out of the sun and protect your skin with Neova SPF 45 or 60 with Green Tea extract. Restrain from any strenuous exercise, hot water, saunas, steam rooms and tanning beds.
Your skincare regimen should be adjusted according to the chemical exfoliation treatment you will be receiving. It may be necessary to use skincare products other than your current system.
Consult with your skincare specialist to design a chemical exfoliation treatment plan and home care program individualized for you.
